Considering he watched Haurchefant and Ysayle die, and then he slew Emet-Selch and Zenos, not well. Not well at all. If it was from old age, he would have had time to prepare and have someone keep an eye on him (likely one of the dragons or viera he knows) so he wouldn't do something stupid again.

I think about this at least a dozen times a day.

people end up unable to see depiction as anything other than endorsement when their entire cultural diet is escapist fun and reassurance. they see something make them uncomfortable and can only assume people are watching horrible shit as vicarious pleasure and are horrified.

i would really recommend white ppl look into the "right to comfort" as a characteristic of white supremacy. from "white supremacy culture" by tema okun:

"right to comfort:

So Nikolai is afraid of the dark and of really tight spaces, so while his room is dimly lit, it must ALWAYS have something shedding small pockets of light at all times, hence why he has a bunch of crystals or something dangling.
