Lots of time and effort has gone into the Independent Water Commission, which reports tomorrow. Unfortunately, it's a largely wasted exercise, because the government insisted that renationalisation of the water companies was outside its terms of reference: ie, it was not allowed to consider it.🧵

Britain is still providing arms to Israel. So it's doing a lot more than "tolerating" this world historic evil. It's continuing to participate in it. Lammy's retoric was strong, but the announced actions were feeble. If we want to support the people of Gaza then we need to be clear about that.
