Which at least is vaguely accurate. Pronouncing it "grah" is the same kind of overcorrection that leads tennis commentators to pronounce "Monfils" as "Monfee".

Anyone know who decided to start pronouncing "coup de grâce" as "coup de gras" in English, i.e. without the "ace" sounded like it should be in French? I'm hearing it everywhere! Please let me know so that I can insert a Petit Robert* in them. (*Which a US colleague of mine calls "Little Bob" 😍)

Excellent episode, Bill! One of my favourite concert moments ever was when Maiden opened with Caught Somewhere In Time - what a rush when the fast bit kicked in! And they played Alexander The Great as well! (Though the last line sounds like homework finished on the bus on the way to school ...)

Pretty sure you can usually use either the genitive case or "von" but in this case, maybe "von" is a better choice because Sleepy Hollow is a proper name? Then again, the Heinrich Böll book is called Die verlorene Ehre der Katharina Blum. So maybe it's because the name Sleepy Hollow is English?
