I don’t even know how to express how much I love this little cat. When Dan and I met her and Dottie at the rescue, she confidently marched up Dan’s arm, sat on his shoulder, and started to lick his face. Dottie cowered behind the litterbox. We had to have them both.

If I pull the string on a See N' Say, I'm not hearing the cow say "moo." An LLM responds based on the probability of it being similar to things already established. That's it. It's very complex and it has a very big bag of parts to craft a response, but that doesn't change its essential nature.

It's only a "hedge" as you put it because technology might change in some inexplicable way, but based on our understanding of tech and the brain (which has stalled for *decades*), we will not get "AGI." An LLM doesn't argue. It pieces together an argument-shaped response from a bag of words.
