There HAS TO BE a reckoning for this, and so many similar atrocities. Any politician or pundit who says we should move forward and not look back should be summarily rejected. I want prison time for every ICE agent and every administration official who's responsible. Starting with Donald.

The media's dilemma: should we cover that a guy contemplating how to dispose of Jews is cited by the VP as an intellectual influence or write another piece about vague connections between Democrats and Hassan Piker? 🤔

I maintain that "low-info voters" (aka the common clay of the new West) liked that he was saying outrageous stuff. But they assumed that 1) Mr. Good At Business was just doing so to make "elites" gasp & drop their monocles; 2) there were guardrails against him doing anything *really* bad. Whoopsie!

Maybe I’m crazy but under these conditions could the Ds land a trifecta? Like would a D+10 to D+15 top of the ballot do it? I think the R state Supreme Court candidate is also off the airwaves.

I'm just gonna bookmark this for future reference when Dem pundits complain about how the party has trouble communicating its message to voters. The reason you keep running into trouble with your branding isn't campus radicals. The reason is that your opponents purchased all the media outlets.

When they get back in power, Democrats need to go all-in on higher education. We need a campaign of reinvestment in public universities across the country that makes the Morrill Land-Grant Act look like nothing by comparison *and* a GI Bill of Rights-style program of tuition grants.

Sort of insane fact about how broken US urban planning is—America now spends more building *just the lights for roads and highways* than on all subways & ground mass transit combined Spending on roadway *pavement* is 18x transit spending

The real worry is not the next two years, but the 2-4 after that. If this is a bellwether, we are never going to get the real, serious, major institutional reform that we need to make sure that this era of lawless authoritarianism doesn't happen again, even if we get a Democratic president in 2029.

Individual states, definitely. But what about aggregating somehow? Ex: 25 biggest moving vs 25 smallest moving primary states. Non-moving primary states vs moving primary states. Biggest moving quartile vs smallest moving quartile. Etc

Ian Jamison @ianjamison.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
You mention 7 states that didn’t swing left at all from 2022. Historically, do states that fail to swing in primaries *also* fail to swing in the subsequent general? If so, FL is basically a write off. But would also mean the swing in the remaining 43 states is LARGER than D+13…

Yeah, those two were tough for me. I think they’re close and ultimately went with the more known quantity. Already seen DO get within 7% of an incumbent in a bad year. This year is likely to be 9-13% bluer imo. I like Hamilton & KS is moving left fast. But comp is Marshall +12% in a D+2 2020…

So, Split Ticket has incumbency as a +3 bonus. Say Abbott (a strong Inc) outruns Paxton by ~5-7. Implies Paxton underran generic non-Inc GOP by 2-4. Sherrod being net neutral on incumbency instead of -3… near identical. Are you thinking Inc benefit drops this cycle? Or GA outruns Paxton by 8+?
