We lost a giant of the computing industry today. Margaret Hamilton has shuffled off this mortal coil. Best known for the Apollo missions, she was also a key player in the software reliability sphere, set up several companies, and was a huge supporter of women in STEM. And inspired a Lego figure.

Seems confirmed, the US iPhone 18 Pro Max (only) lacks Apple's c2 modem. Globally, this model has the c2.

The camera controls button seems a bit forgotten on iPhone 18 Pro, because there is no option to control the new variable aperture or do manual focus. Those are on-screen button settings only

Exactly. If this is not superintelligence, but is the result of malicious training then an AI agent can still be dangerous

What OpenAI claims a model wrote into its own instructions for the next task reads like something from SF, like Neuromancer. The debate on regulatory capture or real risk will continue. But I'd argue a technology can be dangerous (and useful!!) even if it is not superintelligence or AGI

The main reason to get an iPhone 18 Pro vs another iPhone is the camera. Petapixel has the best 18 Pro camera review that I've seen so far: petapixel.com/2026/09/16/a...

Impressive to see Apple deliver IP68 with water ingress to a depth of **6 metres for 30 minutes** for the iPhone Duo, ie the folding model. The regular Pro models have an identical rating.

Use 1 eSIM across 2 iPhones with iOS27 — this is clearly ideal for use on a foldable iPhone + regular model. It would have been terrific for use with iPhone Mini too. To be usable it needs to work with apps like WhatsApp & Signal that are tied to a phone number www.macrumors.com/2026/09/02/i...

"Unpopular but true" is what #AI needs to deliver, not statistically common & which everyone already knows. SpaceX IPO filing: "For AI to help us understand the universe, we believe it must be able to discard the often popular, but wrong, in favor of the unpopular, but true."
