Disabled people are far more likely to be victims of abuse. We are forced into legislated poverty and made to depend on toxic people for our survival. Many “caregivers” will take advantage of the situation, putting us in increasingly dangerous situations. We deserve autonomy.

Why do we treat the economy like it’s a force of nature that just happens to us? It’s a system we designed. If it’s not working for the majority of people, we shouldn’t be asking how to fix the people—we should be redesigning the system. Any proper redesign needs to include universal basic income.

Every person deserves to have the means to be independent and have the autonomy to take care of their own needs. Community and building support for each other is so meaningful, but being at the mercy of others to survive, no one wants if its not a choice. This is why we need UBI.

“There’s too many Americans on SNAP!” Yes there are. Too many corporations refuse to pay a living wage. Huge companyies are encouraging their employees to apply for SNAP because they don’t pay them enough to survive. The government encourages this & then blames the poor.
