Total pleasure to chat with David Nicholls on Friday. Here we are in sound check and then with our lovely big audience. I really loved You Are Here: beards, walks, knitwear, lovelorn-ness, pies and pints, real talk, and big weather - emotional and otherwise: only gorgeous and funny and wise ❤️

am very proud of The Benefactors audiobook. I do the main narration but over 30 others - family, friends, strangers - recorded the 50 voices that form the book’s monologues. Most had zero experience. All were BRILLIANT. Thanks to @hachetteaudio.bsky.social www.thebookseller.com/news/hodder-...

Norfolk bird charity finds Britain’s oldest known oystercatchers
Birds in their 40s wintering on mudflats and coastal wetlands of the Wash received leg rings in early 1980s If your ears are assaulted by the shrill piping calls of an excitable bird on the east coast of England, fear not: it’s probably an oystercatcher experiencing a midlife crisis. Two of the handsome black and white birds with bright red-orange bills have been found to be the oldest known oystercatchers ever recorded in Britain, clocking up at least 41 and 43 years on the mudflats of the Wash. Welcome good news: St Monan's Auld Kirk Enterprise has been awarded a grant of £171,000 by the Scottish Land Fund to purchase their building. This medieval church has a rich history dating back to King David 1st in the 13th century. The vaulted interior is also beautiful. 🧵1/2
