What we all need to see is a red squirrel in a power pose. You're welcome.
A red squirrel on the ground. It almost looks like it is in superhero pose with one front paw and one back paw on the ground. The other front and back paws are raised in the air, its head is forward ready to run towards the camera.

This poem is dedicated to anyone making a start on their advent calendar today.
The Good Old Days

Pity the poor children
of today, with their calendars
stuffed with chocolates,

never to know the thrill
of opening a small cardboard door
and discovering behind it

a picture of a bell.

Trump, Putin and Musk all share a leadership style – we’ve figured out what it is
So-called authentic leadership was once seen as good and moral. But leaders are increasingly ‘signalling’ their messages in ways that can be highly polarising.

A cover of Herr Dumpidump by Roger Hargreaves that says "Herr Dumpidump by Roger Hargreaves" and with an illustration of Herr Dumpidump looking especially dumpidumpish (forgive me but I can't stop repeating the word dumpidump... DUMPIDUMP!)

Great piece about #ebookSOS in Ireland. Pricing, licensing, availability are all totally dysfunctional & not working for libraries. And in terms of availability the UK is particularly poorly served - a 2019 sampling of 1000 titles found only 59% were available in the UK, compared to 71% in the US.
rte.ie
Why are librarians up in arms over ebooks?
Lack of available stock, high prices and onerous terms and conditions mean ebooks currently offer poor value for readers and libraries
