I get the instinct to criticize bad bikers but I do think we will always have to tolerate some amount of biking on sidewalks in Japan. It’s just a different cultural expectation. And cyclists who cause accidents can be held accountable. We have to target cars though. Anything else is infighting.

Really interesting to see what the vibe was around the country. Murakami makes it sound suffocating. He ends up escaping by taking the train down to Kyushu and staying in Yufuin for a while. Not a bad idea any time, but especially when the world is crazy. Wouldn't mind going right now, tbh.

Selling a bike in Japan. Is there any situation in which you wouldn’t want to immediately transfer the bike to the purchaser? Can you do the paperwork in advance and then sell it so you don’t have to do the exchange at a bike shop?
