I love most of this really good primer. But we have got to stop sliding parents rights into the conversation. I know legally kids have no rights, but that doesn't mean we need to be pushing parents rights.

Book banning can be confusing, especially when terms like “challenge,” “removal,” “parental rights,” and “First Amendment” get thrown into the same conversation. So we’re answering five of the most common questions about book bans. Knowledge is one of our best tools against censorship.

Eve by Cat Bohannon was such a great read. Learned so much about not just the female body but the nature of humanity from a scientific perspective. It definitely challenges a lot of entrenched pseudoscientific and sexist beliefs about women

The image is of a four panel comic.
The first panel shows Sarah, the protagonist, as a child. Off panel, someone says to her, “Enjoy your youth!”
The second panel shows child Sarah again, now frowning. The person off panel continues, saying “After you’re 30 you’ll be old and your life will basically be over.”
Before the last two panels there is text that reads “LIFE AFTER I TURNED 30.”
The third panel shows adult Sarah opening a door.
The fourth panel shows the door opens to a beautiful field with flowers, a rainbow, and a pond. Sarah says “Wait what.”

Dr. Patricia Bath overcame sexism, racism & poverty and saved the sight of millions of people. She invented the Laserphaco Probe for cataract treatment, 1986; it was patented in 1988. She co-founded the American Institute for the Prevention of Blindness, 1976. She died #OTD in 2019. #WomenInSTEM
A vibrant color historical photograph capturing the brilliant ophthalmologist, inventor, and academic Dr. Patricia Era Bath (1942–2019) in an office or laboratory setting, radiating an aura of confident intelligence and warm approachability. Occupying the center and right of the shot, Dr. Bath sits facing forward, smiling brightly with a direct, engaging gaze at the camera. She is dressed in a professional white medical lab coat—subtly embroidered with "Dr. Bath" in red cursive on the left lapel—worn over a light blue button-down denim shirt and accented by a polished gold chain necklace. Pens are visible tucked into her left coat pocket. Positioned prominently to her right on the left side of the frame is a large, white medical laboratory microscope or ophthalmic imaging equipment with black eye-pieces. The background shows a white wooden bookshelf packed with colorful medical texts, binders, and stacked papers. This portrait carries immense historical significance, honoring a legendary trailblazer in STEM who became the first Black female doctor to patent a medical device—the revolutionary Laserphaco Probe for cataract treatment—fundamentally restoring sight to millions worldwide.

Something instead of nothing
Comic strip, page 1: a chimpanzee is using sign language to communicate to a zookeeper, “Why is there something instead of nothing?” The zookeeper laughs to his colleagues, “He wants another banana!” The other zoo workers are cracking up hysterically behind him.Page 2: Later, the main zookeeper is in a dark room filled with TVs displaying security footage of the zoo animals. He is soaking wet in a raincoat, staring solemnly at the screen which shows the chimpanzee. The zookeeper reaches down to press a large red button on the desk beneath the screen display.Page 3: from inside the chimpanzee exhibit, we see the security gate open. The chimpanzee wander through and exits the building to a dark, rainy street corner. He extends his arms and lets the rain fall onto him.Page 4: the chimpanzee is in the backseat of a cab, driving somewhere else in the city at night. The final panel is the chimpanzee at checkout in a grocery store with a huge pile of bananas. The clerk looks mildly shocked.

Spending more on AI agents than you do on human workers is a curious business move. Never bring humans at all is an even more curious move. Curiouser and curioser. Ah well, I’m sure there won’t be drastic consequences for these decisions later down the line
“But while big companies are using Al to justify reducing worker headcount, startups are using Al to justify never hiring human workers in the first place.”“Andrew Pignanelli, the founder of the dubiously-named General Intelligence Company, gave a presentation last month in which he explained that many of the "jobs" at his company are just a series of Al agents, and that he now usually spends more money on Al compute than he does on human salaries.”
