Omigod, this is the most heartwarming story possible! Backpack (bear 89) is the son of the 2019 winner of Fat Bear Week, Holly (bear 435). In 2007, he injured his foot & a practice of riding on momma's Holly's back had a new meaning: he was mobility-restricted while it healed. So Holly moved him.

From DISCVR blog's Facebook page, a momma bear & a yearling cub on her back in the shallow water. I think the background has been swapped out, and I can't rule out some AI use there? God, Facebook has become the social media for AI slop : (

The title of the article, which I link below, is "How Bear 89 earned the name Backpack"

“Why doesn’t Batman just fund Gotham welfare programs instead of beating up the poor” Because Gotham has • corpse of an elder god • living elder god • Is built onto a cursed Native burial ground • portal to hell that’s a little open • portal to the afterlife that’s a little open • over 100 gangs

according to company legend, while building Disneyland, Walt Disney ate a hot dog while walking and counted it took 30 steps for him to finish eating and be ready to throw away the trash; this led him to design the park such that no guest would ever be more than 30 steps away from a hot dog cart

i've started to learn blender and i gotta say, it's resulted in some really boring anecdotes. to take one example, yesterday i intended to keyframe-shift an object to 15.5 on the z-axis, but mistakenly entered 15.5 on the y-axis instead! thankfully i realized and corrected my mistake some time later

learning hiragana is a lot to take in, but thankfully the mnemonics are super helpful

screenshot of the Tofugu hiragana guide, edited to say: "さ is just the S sound plus あ, making a sa sound. It's pronounced like sa in 'sad.' Notice how this kana looks like a character from the early 2000's webcomic Ctrl+Alt+Del, which was sometimes unexpectedly sad. This comic is so sad, I'm at a loss!" An standalone image of the さ kana sits beside a picture of it superimposed over the face of the main character from Ctrl+Alt+Del.
