So it turns out the early childhood intervention systems in this city are really, REALLY difficult to navigate. I learned a ton writing this story, including that some specialists refuse to work with kids in the TL because they're afraid to come here. A real-world consequence of its reputation.

Even though overdose deaths have decreased slightly, racial disparities persist. With their year-old nonprofit Brothers Against Drug Deaths (BADD), Theris Coats and Richard Beal are creating the services and programs they believe can help address inequities and save lives.
