I covered the Clippers for much of Kawhi’s tenure and witnessed the team’s long-suffering, loyal fans put up with so much and defend him constantly. Hard to put into words how badly he burned them, but I tried. My column: www.latimes.com/sports/clipp...

The Clippers were easy marks when Kawhi Leonard was a free agent, and he took advantage of them. The NBA has now throttled the team with sanctions.

The NBA is making following the NBA too dang complicated -- which is not to say new anti-tanking rules won't be good for your team (Lakers fans). Could be. Maybe. It's hard to know. On the 10,000-piece puzzle that is modern NBA fandom: www.latimes.com/sports/laker...

Commentary: NBA's anti-tanking draft reform might be great for Lakers but is bad for basketball
The NBA’s owners are expected to meet Thursday to approve new “anti-tanking draft reform” via a “3-2-1 lottery.” It's likely to be convoluted, but can it help the Lakers?

Every once in a while it’s worth taking a minute and thinking about how incredible this is. My dad and I used to play hoops in the neighborhood and I thought that was pretty cool growing up. A kid gets to put on a Lakers jersey and score against NBA teams with his pops. That’s just nuts.

this iconic advertising copywriter named Kathy Hepinstall Parks died over the weekend and I wanted to share something from her website I thought Bluesky would like
Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me?
Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.
