Which is, yknow, kind of self-deluding because i do wanna comply and cooperate with externalities, but holding myself in a way where I can have barbs, where I can be abrasive, is the only way i can feel like having a sense of grounding or tethering to something that i'm no longer in touch with.

i don't think i really have reason to feel hardened or calloused to the world, but i also feel like i have no real tether to it either, so its a lot easier for me to exist in a way that is exasperated and hostile to what is happening around me, to disrespect etiquette in some ways.

finished Taiwan Travelogue I quite liked it, although i think there's a point where the unspoken gulf of distance becomes textual rather than inferred, and it suffers a bit in terms of resonance for that. However, the last 30 pages also redeem it because I ended up sobbing and crying a lot lol
