TRUMP TODAY: "She wasn't a member of my family. She I guess dated my son a long time ago" TRUMP NOT EVEN 2 YEARS AGO: "Kimberly has been a close friend and ally"

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

Today, I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Kimberly Guilfoyle as the United States Ambassador to Greece. For many years, Kimberly has been a close friend and ally. Her extensive experience and leadership in law, media, and politics along with her sharp intellect make her supremely qualified to represent the United States, and safeguard its interests abroad.

Kimberly is perfectly suited to foster strong bilateral relations with Greece, advancing our interests on issues ranging from defense cooperation to trade and economic innovation.

Congratulations Kimberly!

There’s a major problem with Katie Zacharia’s claim: In 2011, the year she graduated from Pepperdine Law and moved to Beijing, China’s Ministry of Justice expressly required anyone registering for the National Judicial Examination to “have nationality of the People’s Republic of China.” Oopsie.

Do @status.news or @oliverdarcy.bsky.social provide gift links? Because you really have got to read this thing. It's a mix of perfectly reasonable editorial oversight and bizarre managerial paranoia (that is fueled by leaks like ... the one that underpins this story).
"If you think that deciding on October 7 that the way to open up an anniversary story about the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust is to show a montage of Israeli bombs falling on countries in the Middle East, you have an opinion," Raice said, appearing to directly reference Williams' morning report. "You have decided-and I'm not saying it's not valid-that the story of October 7 is a story about Israeli aggression, Israeli violence, Israel, you know, overresponding, overreacting. Is that a valid opinion? Yes, it is. And if you wanted to do a story like that, I didn't actually have a problem with that story. I think it's fine." Raice continued: "What I have a problem with is saying that if somebody else says, 'No, you know what? I actually think on the October 7 anniversary we should focus instead on what happened that day to the people who were killed, and we can do other stories about Gaza, and we can shine a light on everything that's happened to Palestinians since then, but in our main TV piece, we're going to focus on the victims of that day. Another valid opinion. OK, these are two ways of doing it, and don't think that because you chose the first way it means you're more objective than the person who chose the other way, OK? You're not. You have an opinion too.""None of this, Holly, is directed at you," Raice replied. "This is something that I have been discussing for a long time, and I also, I mean, yeah, none of it's directed at you. If you want, you and I can take this offline, and we can talk one on one when you're back. But none of this is directed at anyone in particular." Williams then pushed back on the suggestion that she and her colleagues believed "nobody is allowed to comment on their script." Correspondents routinely collaborate with producers, standards executives, and show staffers, all of whom regularly weigh in on scripts before they make it to air, Williams noted. The issue, she suggested, was the manner in which Raice had exercised her authority. "What I would like to point out on October 7 is I was told, not by you directly, but I was told that it wasn't a negotiation," Williams said. "I was told that I had to make the changes as written, and that there was no negotiation." "At that point-yes, that's right," Raice conceded. "At that point, there was no negotiation. Now, had you called me, we could have had a discussion. But at that point, there wasn't." It was a striking admission, given that Raice had just spent much of her opening remarks portraying herself as a champion of editorial collaboration and debate. But when Williams attempted to press the matter further, Raice suddenly became reluctant to discuss the specifics of the very episode she had repeatedly invoked to defend herself.
