According to ERA5 global sea surface temperatures have set a new all time record. This is likely the warmest sea surface temperatures have been in at least the last 125,000 years. What’s more concerning is this will likely rise further in the coming months.

It is difficult to read the Supreme Court's opinions over the last week and not see the general trend toward accretion of Court power. Interpretive philosophies like originalism give way to "plain text" readings (by judges) and historical "standards," without any specific guidelines. /1

Avoiding the Supreme Court’s Religious Charter-School Trap: Governance Change for the New Legal Era
Forty-six states and the District of Columbia permit charter schools to open, and 33 states plus D.C. allow independently governed charter schools that the Supreme Court may soon declare to be non-state actors not bound by constitutional obligations. This could create major legal tensions, as states may be unable to exclude religious charter schools from public funding while also losing the ability to enforce constitutional protections against discrimination and government establishment of religion. The issue stems from the Supreme Court’s increasing willingness to require states to fund religious institutions on equal terms with secular ones, potentially opening the door to publicly funded religious charter schools. States with independently governed charters could face heightened constitutional risk, while those with district-governed charter systems may be better positioned to preserve charter schools’ public character and oversight. The Appendix appears underneath the policy brief below. Suggested Citation: Welner, K.G., Burris, C.C., & Green, P.C. (2026). Avoiding the Supreme Court’s religious charter-school trap: Governance change for the new legal era. Boulder, CO: National Education Policy Center. We do have an “incredible history,” Jeff Bezos. But a long tradition of historical scholarship challenges the idea that “free markets” was a “founding pillar” of the United States. I trace some of this history and historiography in my book, FREE ENTERPRISE: AN AMERICAN HISTORY.
And he defended his changes to the focus of The Post’s Opinion section. Personal liberties and free markets are “founding pillars of America,” he said. “It’s one of the reasons that America has been so successful. We hav an incredible history.” Free Enterprise: An American History
