Thanks to whoever at @mycomicshop.bsky.social is responsible for breaking the preorder new series offerings into separate lists! This is a much nicer and more usable format. Greatly appreciated!
A screen shot of the eight categories available for finding and pre-ordering first issues at mycomicshop.com, where previously there had been only one. There are now breakdowns for DC, Marvel, Image and everything else, as well as lists of collections for each

I've long suspected that ever since my kids were born ('04 and '06) I've sort of been out of touch with pop culture. And I'm not a big TV guy. But even so, this list is a slap in the face. There are probably only 10 or 15 of these shows that I have watched even a single episode of!

I have been enjoying #Lanterns, but mostly have been thinking of it just as a fun sci-fi action show. This is a really interesting take on the series, and a worthwile read. I might need to watch more closely!

Yeah, his early Aquaman and Phantom Stranger runs were spectacular, and those Brave and the Bold books provided the definitive look to so many DC characters for me. One of the greats!!

There is something about this @fabiomoon.bsky.social panel that just absolutely captivated me. The guy can draw anything, and the colors by @wordie.bsky.social provide a perfect finish. I am now actively excited for the next issue of Archie, which is not something I ever expected to say.
Betty and Veronica are brightly lit, beautiful and expressive in the left foreground as they talk about Archie, who looks over at them with a happy, lovesick puppy look on his face. The vibrant coloring draws you immediately to Betty's blonde ponytail and then into the girls conversation. Eventually you follow their eyes to Archie, who's gaze directs you back, trying to trap you along with them in their never-ending romantic triangle.

Fabio Moon is pretty great at making comics. Jason Wordie too.

Goddammit. Stupid tape. Why do I still bag and board my comics? WHY!?!?
a piece of tape cling to a Santos Sisters comic, threatening to destroy the book's esthetic and monetary value.

It's presence is my own fault.

NARCO from @imagecomics.com is a lot of fun. The main character is unique and easy to root for, and I sort of love the Hitchcock-homage covers. Great work by @dougwagner13.bsky.social , Daniel Hillyard, Dave Stewart and @eduke.bsky.social!

Somehow the #Vikings were down 25-10 at one point in this game, and looked completely hapless. Then one play seemed to turn it all around. They outscored the Packers 29 to -3 the rest of the way and ended up winning 39-22. The #nfl is weird.

EXPL0IT (4 issues) by @timleong.bsky.social, @laurahudson.bsky.social, @emilianapinna.bsky.social, @purpledraws.bsky.social and @gofrankgo.bsky.social was pretty darn fantastic. Gorgeous art and colors, a couple fun protagonists, and all of the billionaires are depicted realistically (as assholes)

Spent the afternoon at the Fargodome, and #NDSU put on a good show once again. The Bison played well on both sides of the ball, and after two games they are looking ready to take on the challenge of #FBS football. Air Force also looked really good today, so next week should be interesting!
Players gather at midfield after the NDSU-Fordham football game, while fans visit in the stands, cheerleaders celebrate the Bison 38-0 win, and the jumbotron flashes a huge "Bison Win" message.

If you could only give someone five #comics to read as an introduction to the early years of #dccomics Silver Age (1956-1960) what would you choose? My picks: Showcase #4 and #22, Adventure #247, Action #252 and Brave and the Bold #28.

Catching up on a comic series from earlier this year, and after 5 issues I'm not actually sure what the hell is happening. Seems I'm missing something important. It's good, tho, and I was OK to just roll with it, and wait for answers. Then I see it's cancelled. Sigh. Such is the world of comics

Revisited Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #228 and #229 tonight. I remember how Chemical King's death messed me up when i was a kid, and I loved how it was the original three who brought in the killer. But I was not prepared for how hard these comics still hit me all these years later.

Just finished up a rewatch of Vampire's Kiss, and that movie is an absolute trainwreck. A crazy, sexy, insane, glorious trainwreck. Cage is a madman in this, but even so Jennifer Beals steals every scene she's in.
Jennifer Beals and Nicolas Cage in Vampire's Kiss (1989). Cage's character does not look well, which makes sense because he is, in fact, deeply unwell. Beals' character is inhumanly beautiful, because its Jennifer Beals.

Picked up OVERFLOW by @winstongambro.bsky.social this weekend at #fanexpochicago, and was completely drawn in by the world and premise. Its dark and dystopian (a bit Enemy of the State and a bit Dr. Strangelove) but with some mindbending new twists of its own! 👍
The cover of Overflow, with a red sky bathing a city street in harsh light. A stylized face hangs in the center of the cover, seemingly made of other elements of the cityscape.

Went to #supergirl with the family tonight. The kids (college age) enjoyed it, which is great! I was less impressed. When Supergirl ended it left me feeling much the same way I did after watching Zack Snyder's Superman v Batman. I'm going to have to ponder this one a bit.

Honestly, i don't understand this economy when nursing homes are so expensive they bankrupt our grandparents but nursing home aides need to use food banks.
daycare is so expensive it eats up one parent's entire paycheck and yet daycare providers only make $10/hr and need second jobs.
college costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and puts students into debt for life and yet we have thousands of professors living in their cars.
everything we need is astronomically expensive and yet almost none of the money we pay is going towards the people actually doing the work and providing the services.

Interesting. I occasionally pre-order a variant instead of the main cover, but rarely buy a book I wouldn't have bought anyway (at least consciously). If 30-40% of sales are variants, I wonder how many of those are sold to folks who would actually not buy the book if it just had the "A cover"?

Went to The Sheep Detectives with my family last night, and had a great time. It felt like a movie out of an earlier time, when films were actually made for the big tent of "all ages" A fun movie for adults and kids, but didn't condescend to younger viewers and dealt with serious themes head on
