There is something about this @fabiomoon.bsky.social panel that just absolutely captivated me. The guy can draw anything, and the colors by @wordie.bsky.social provide a perfect finish. I am now actively excited for the next issue of Archie, which is not something I ever expected to say.

Betty and Veronica are brightly lit, beautiful and expressive in the left foreground as they talk about Archie, who looks over at them with a happy, lovesick puppy look on his face. The vibrant coloring draws you immediately to Betty's blonde ponytail and then into the girls conversation. Eventually you follow their eyes to Archie, who's gaze directs you back, trying to trap you along with them in their never-ending romantic triangle.

Fabio Moon is pretty great at making comics. Jason Wordie too.

NARCO from @imagecomics.com is a lot of fun. The main character is unique and easy to root for, and I sort of love the Hitchcock-homage covers. Great work by @dougwagner13.bsky.social , Daniel Hillyard, Dave Stewart and @eduke.bsky.social!

Somehow the #Vikings were down 25-10 at one point in this game, and looked completely hapless. Then one play seemed to turn it all around. They outscored the Packers 29 to -3 the rest of the way and ended up winning 39-22. The #nfl is weird.

Spent the afternoon at the Fargodome, and #NDSU put on a good show once again. The Bison played well on both sides of the ball, and after two games they are looking ready to take on the challenge of #FBS football. Air Force also looked really good today, so next week should be interesting!

Revisited Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #228 and #229 tonight. I remember how Chemical King's death messed me up when i was a kid, and I loved how it was the original three who brought in the killer. But I was not prepared for how hard these comics still hit me all these years later.

Crazy comics story, courtesy of Comic Book Historians. In 1974, a mailorder company-- called Adolf's!-- that dealt in repro Nazi Germany gear, advertised in Marvel books. Readers complained, and Stan lowered the boom on the ad dept.!

Just finished up a rewatch of Vampire's Kiss, and that movie is an absolute trainwreck. A crazy, sexy, insane, glorious trainwreck. Cage is a madman in this, but even so Jennifer Beals steals every scene she's in.

Picked up OVERFLOW by @winstongambro.bsky.social this weekend at #fanexpochicago, and was completely drawn in by the world and premise. Its dark and dystopian (a bit Enemy of the State and a bit Dr. Strangelove) but with some mindbending new twists of its own! 👍

I really want to read MARVEL EXPLODES: FROM BULLPEN TO BIG BUSINESS, Paul Levitz's upcoming book about how Marvel changed, told by a guy who saw it all happen from the POV of the guy across the street, as it were. I was around for a lot of it...but I bet Paul saw it a lot more clearly than I did.

Went to #supergirl with the family tonight. The kids (college age) enjoyed it, which is great! I was less impressed. When Supergirl ended it left me feeling much the same way I did after watching Zack Snyder's Superman v Batman. I'm going to have to ponder this one a bit.

Honestly, i don't understand this economy when nursing homes are so expensive they bankrupt our grandparents but nursing home aides need to use food banks.
daycare is so expensive it eats up one parent's entire paycheck and yet daycare providers only make $10/hr and need second jobs.
college costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and puts students into debt for life and yet we have thousands of professors living in their cars.
everything we need is astronomically expensive and yet almost none of the money we pay is going towards the people actually doing the work and providing the services.

Went to The Sheep Detectives with my family last night, and had a great time. It felt like a movie out of an earlier time, when films were actually made for the big tent of "all ages" A fun movie for adults and kids, but didn't condescend to younger viewers and dealt with serious themes head on

Went after this eBay because it had a copy of BLACKMARK by Gil Kane that I'd been wanting to get for ages, but now that it's arrived I'm thinking this snazzy Star Trek coaster set may have been the real prize!

Picked up some magnificent comics this weekend. I am a big Fish Police and Halo Jones fan, but HIS NAME IS...SAVAGE from 1968 by Gil Kane and Archie Goodwin is absolutely mind blowing. Kane's art is as beautiful as always, but with a bone-crunching brutality I am not used to from him. So good.

I bought AMNESIA in the 80s for the C64 , but never finished it. It was insanely frustrating, and also my copy (on 5.25 disk) went bad. And now I discover, after a long day, that it is playable on the web? I can find out what happened? I am so tired. But this is way more important than sleep.

I have really been enjoying tracking down these 1970s and early 80s comic magazines lately. ECLIPSE: THE MAGAZINE had crazy star power. 5 comic HOf'ers listed on the cover of #1, plus Marshall Rogers and Max Allan Collins! Anyone else out there interested in these "ground level" books?

7 issues of Eclipse Magazine fanned out on a table. Most feature fantasy or science fiction scenes, although the detective Ms. Tree does appear on one of them as well.
