As Glasgow hosts the XXIII Commonwealth Games this summer, our newest foyer display, curated by Levi Tippett (Sporting Heritage Engagement Officer), reflects on the University’s athletes’ historic participation in the Games. 🏸 #SSSHeritage

We were honoured to welcome staff and students from Ninohe City High School in Japan last week. The school visit us every year to follow in the footsteps of Aikitsu Tanakadate, who was born in Ninohe, studied at the University under Lord Kelvin and became one of Japan’s most renowned geophysicists 👨‍🎓

We’re behind the scenes for #EYADigital with our FRED machine, which analyses and processes digital files. Our collections increasingly involve digital materials; we’ve recently used the FRED and FTK to process material from the 2000s deposited from the University’s student television station, GUST.

For #EYAMedieval, we've chosen the 12th-century Hunterian Psalter, one of the most magnificent manuscripts from William Hunter’s library. Here's a miniature depicting the Ascension (fo. 4r), an intricate initial B (fol 22r), and a singing goat with an ass playing the harp (fol 88r). [MS Hunter 229]
