I think "The Social Reckoning" sucks so much as a movie premise because Meta has done fuckall to change the predatory practices that make them money. $17billon once out of their $230billion/year has had no affect other than adding MORE ads to Facebook and Instagram

Made up egotistical scenarios don't make for great song inspo

"I truly believe the real reason Taylor Swift's new songs are so bad this time is because she can no longer address the REAL controversies she's involved in. It's not break-up scandals, or music style, or misogyny causing the "hate," it's the tacky flaunting of her billions in wealth, her silence on global civil and environmental issues she could easily influence with that wealth and popularity, and her public interaction with with known fascists. You can't write songs making light of stuff like that without perpetuating it, or making major changes and apologies. It's just much easier to theme your album around people hating you because you're happy and married and like sports now."

I was somewhat wrong. It did rock! But it DID feel like a Resident Evil movie in the way it felt like you were watching someone who is OKAY at games play DLC for RE2 made in the same style as 7, 8, and 9. It was also hilarious.

Resident Evil sick watch movie rankings from someone who only knows the loee through a deep dive video and has only played 7 and 8.

7. Apocalypse- I don't remember anything from this movie but it was more action and canon lore than the first one. Jill Valentine.
6. Final Chapter- The ending was cool, but that's kind of it. I'm over the clones. What happened to EVERYONE from the previous 2 movies??
5. Extinction- Fun to get into more game characters finally. Vegas was wasted as a location. Alice had special zombie mind powers for 30 seconds so that was neat.
4. Afterlife- It was fun, played like a zombie movie, Chris Redfield talked like Batman the entire time. Ridiculously silly action.
3. Retribution- Incredible tonal shift here, but no complaints. Explained very little between Afterlife and it. Loved the environment.
2. Resident Evil- Great setup to the movie series. Michelle Rodriguez is there. Felt like a video game, despite breaking away from the original games completely. Good horror bits.
1. Welcome to Raccoon City- Better than expected. Leon is dumber than I want him to be. Good RE2 references. Some of the acting and dialogue isn't great. Wish it stuck to the game, it would have done better. Good horror bits as well. Everyone's hot, so that's a plus.

On to Retribution. Starting strong with a reversed sceen that ubreversed and then a crazy long dream sequence. Just doing whatever now

Desta @hillvalleyghost.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

I feel like the new Resident Evil movie is going to be actually very good, BUT I do understand the criticism that fans just want a game accurate movie after the original franchise and Welcome to Raccoon City handled the characters very poorly

There's a lot we don't know about AltNPS. Their real name, for example. Their nationality. How long they've controlled the account. But there's a surprising amount that we DO know about the Alt National Park Service 🧵:

Alt National Park Service: Not all echoes are meant to return. The lights flicker not from power loss, but memory. When the clock chimes out of rhythm and the sky hums a little too low, you’ll understand what wasn’t written. Some birds don’t migrate—they vanish.

A photograph credited to Chris John Photography - featuring a guy dressed as Spider-Man at the top of a fray. Although he’s surrounded by goons in helmets and face masks, he’s reaching back to throw a punch at a white guy in a white tee with sunglasses, while a huge white cross looms teetering behind him. Also: a Black veteran in sand fatigues carries an American flag with difficulty, like he’s trying to raise it at Iwo Jima. I hope he’s not with the goons.

I'd argue that, for the metrics, it's vastly MORE important that viewers turn this off. There's more viewers than streamers, so even if every streamer turned this off, if viewers don't, the executives can still claim that "most users don't care" and cram it down our throats even harder. Opt out.
