On this day in 1625, King James I made his last recorded visit to Royston, a town he transformed into a royal retreat. But just weeks after this final visit, James I passed away, marking the end of an era. Though the royal court has long since left, traces of his time in the town remain.

Look at all these amazing fossils discovered in the Royston area this week!
