This is from a very close friend of my family, someone I've known all my life, and a fellow advanced amateur pianist. The inclusion of Beethoven's 'Waldstein' Sonata in Facing the Music is a tribute to M's longstanding friendship and mutual inspiration as a pianist. amazon.co.uk/dp/1036994562

Pianists remember pianos. Not necessarily because they were exceptional instruments. Sometimes quite the opposite. We remember the piano in a childhood home, the battered upright in a school music room, a particularly lovely grand encountered at a teacher's house, an instrument played in a concert.

When music is who you are... Introducing 'Facing the Music'
crosseyedpianist.com
When music is who you are
At the heart of Facing the Music are questions about what it means to be a musician, how artistic identity is formed, and what happens when circumstances beyond one’s control interrupt the carefully constructed world of practice, performance and artistic ambition.
