THE FLESH KING will be out this Tuesday! It continues Ford, Neuland, and Tilda's story back home in New York, where they are blackmailed into hunting down an immortal killer. Also, my cat says please buy it because we're out of chicken and chicken is life. 😿

It's been an age since I've been here. Book work, then found an online game where I ran into a bunch of wonderful people. Been spending way too much time there just chatting - but it's nice cause I get to be myself 100%. No masks. Not that I think so - I don't control mine, as I learned last week.

@lycomorpha.bsky.social When I first ran into you and you shared your love of moths, I wanted to share this pic with you, but I couldn't find it! Just came back in my FB memories. When I Googled the image, it said it was a Tolype moth. - just beautiful!

A very furry looking moth. The antennae are large, white and fuzzy. The wings, which are closed around the body have horizontal stripes, the larger being a dark brown and the thinner ones are white. I could describe it as having brown wings with two white horizontal bars in teh middle, then some more white at the end of the wings.
The head is brown and with the two white antennae, it looks like a vertical brown line.
The butt/tail of the moth is sticking out below the wings. Very fuzzy, a mix of white and brown.

Ever feel like your brain's tied in a knot when you pick up a book expecting one character find out it's another character and try and figure out how you got the messed up but now you're trying to remember what the first characters storyline was all about.

Found an interesting thread where people were discussing The danger of being in a room with a bat. This sad story was brought up as proof that you may be bitten and have no proof. The lesson is if you're ever in a room with a bat get a rabies shot. Also the shots are not what they were in the past.

@kithrup.bsky.social have you read any of the Preternatural Chronicles by Hunter Blain? Very quirky to say the least. I wouldn't call the series (I'm only on book 2) a masterpiece but it is fun. Finished book one and went straight to book two and I think there are 10.

a.co/d/ffIxwDg a book can't be all that bad if the author has at least two shout outs to one of my fave authors, @richardkadrey.bsky.social. I'm still reading but it has an interesting main character lol. Though I will say I didn't care for the Cosby reference...

Just found out my farrier died in a car accident Monday and I'm in limbo. He was more than just our farrier, but that's how it started. He & his wife always made me feel welcome at their bar/cafe/liquor store. I was relaxed there. Looking at their FB pages, I see they touched a lot of lives. +

Thrilled my publisher backed a new note style (my idea!) in my latest VBA book—custom icon and all. Then I get my royalty statement: just starting to pay back the advance. 🙃 Used to take 3 months. Last one took a year. This time? I’ll be lucky if it’s under two. Buy VBA books, people. 😅

Exactly! AIs (or LLMs to be exact) are tools, far from perfect and you should proofread. Treat them like an assistant. Fine, let them do the research, but you still need to review & approve.

Loving the porch rail feeder I got from The Critter Corner Shop (www.etsy.com/shop/TheCrit...) on Etsy. Cats are enjoying it too. Matter of face, I bought a second for the front porch.

A squirrel sitting in a feeder situated on a porch railing. The feeder is square, made of wood. Constructed in such a way to hug the porch railing. In the background, you can see lush green grass and an old barn in dire need of repairs and paint.

@jenniebreeden.thedevilspanties.com - You got a shout out in this month's ElfQuest Howl!!! For others, here is a link to the comic bsky.app/profile/thed... and the poster: bsky.app/profile/elfq...

apologies in advance for this not being a proper ALT, instead, it's a rough summary.
Screenshot from May's ElfQuest Howl showing the strip from @thedevilspanties.com. In the back of the panel is a rough sketch of a poster the artist, Jennie Breeden, had as a child. The final frame shows it a bit clearer.
I had tagged EQ in the post at BS and they were kind enough to post a picture of the poster. Check out EQ and DP at Bluesky for more details.
