a package with a beautiful butterfly arrived for me yesterday!! it's @saraluna.bsky.social 's SOUVENIR from @fieldmouse.press ! I have read some of these comics as minicomics, but reading them all together in one collection brought up new resonances and echoes between them for me. #zinethread

If you have any interest in storytelling, honing your writing skills and developing your own IP is probably a better investment of your time, or collaborating with ppl who are doing that. Its not an out for everybody, but it is for lots of us imo

What is something that is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders? Illustration pay has not kept up with inflation. We get paid approximately the same dollar amount as an illustrator in the early 2000s. Some of the big companies are the worst for this.

Whenever I am asked for advice on how to keep a sketchbook habit, I always give the same advice: Buy a sketchbook with sort of crappy paper (journals are perfect), and tell yourself that you're going to fill the pages with a great deal of bad drawings. With expectations set, filling pages is easy.
