i think sometimes when people say "deconstruction" they mean "a take on a genre", though sorta confusing cuz all deconstructions are takes on a genre, but not all takes are deconstructions.

Revisited Tezuka's Metropolis manga for a discussion of the 2001 film, and I do miss some of the idiosyncratic play with gender he does with Michi. Most amusingly, there is a button in the back of Michi's throat that switches their gender presentation and the visual of hitting it is quite good.
