I was asked what I was doing this weekend and replied: “Oooh! The Health Security Agency collect ticks at Porton Down. They sent me some vials, so I’m going to take the dog out to get some ticks to send them.” Clearly unaware that such fun could be had, they said it wasn’t what they were expecting.

The Pulp film is on Mubi now and it’s really good. If you don’t blink too much, you might spot me too…
A large TV. Text on the screen says: “PULP: WHAT DO YOU DO FOR AN ENCORE?
GARTH JENNINGS UNITED KINGDOM 2026”
The text is over a photo of Jarvis Cocker on stage taken from behind him. He’s pointing towards a large crowd. To the right the word “Me” is handwritten in red, with an arrow pointing to me in the crowd.

‘The man’s a psychopath when it comes to hedgerows’: Derek vs Derek, the unexpectedly heartwarming doc about farmers at war
One Devon farmer, called Derek, is committed to rewilding his land. His neighbour, also a Derek, tends cattle and crops. What happened when a film-maker decided to follow the bickering pair?

A photo can only capture one moment in one location. Instead, sea level is measured over decades from lots of different locations. Around the UK, long-term records come from over 40 tidal gauges. Globally, sea level has been measured by satellite altimeters since the 1990s.
Average UK sea level since 1900 from tidal gauges. UK sea level has risen by around 20cm since 1900.Global sea level since 1993 from satellite data. Global sea level has increased by around 11cm since these measurements began.
