I was watching this in the TV common area of my dorm. The second the ball fell out of Brown’s glove, one of the dudes got up from the couch, removed the TV from the wall, and smashed it on the ground. Every time I see this clip I can still mentally visualize the entire experience.

Bought my first Coltrane record in 1996 at Co-op Records (now Moondog) in Dubuque, Iowa for $5. It blew my 16-year old mind and has been with me over many years and miles since. Happy Cosmic Birthday, John!

The hype cycle around this band’s first album is still one of the most bizarre things I observed during the Pitchfork-saturated ‘00s. I’m pretty sure it’s a good album! But, man o man, just a terrible time for music journalism that pushed a lot of mediocre shit across the finish line.

Something I've grown to love over the last decade or so of making music is the feeling of recording something and then leaving it there to come back to the next day. It used to be more a thing where I would keep plugging away until I felt it was final, but now I am enjoying letting it ride a bit.
