I did three (3!) administrative tasks that require high executive functioning this morning BEFORE NOON and I think that should excuse me from ever having to do similar tasks again.

Clearest not character 🤦🏼‍♀️

This is the character and most coherent explanation I've heard. Why is it so hard for PPS to communicate this information?

Sydney @hathats.bsky.social · 13/10/2026
I'm a PPS parent and I certainly haven't seen anything. I feel like PPS sends too many identical looking emails - it's hard to tell a "here's why we're doing this" message from an "it's spirit week" or an "enroll youth sports for a high school outside your catchment" email.

Having your coworker's external partners text racist epithets about you during a public meeting is also a sign of terrible workplace culture. No one should have to experience that!

It's really weird to me that one of my city councilors said they'd rather die than work with one of the other councilors & half of PDX is like, "she's just sassy, get over it." That's a terrible workplace culture! No one should have coworkers saying stuff like that about them, esp. not on blast!

I double-checked this on a couple of Xitter stat sites and it's true. Average views of the main AfD account dropped 90% and average engagement dropped by 60%. This is commercial social media for you: bots, damn bots and Russian bots.

The incident happened on July 18 but was not discovered by the Silicon Valley company until September, authorities say.

No child should have to sit and watch while masked officers open fire on his father.  House Democrats have a duty when we take the majority. Get ICE agents off our streets.  Keep them away from our children. Abolish ICE.

The only solution is to not react at all, like you can't hear them. It feels so rude, and I hate being rude, but also, I didn't ask to hear all about how you missed the previous bus due to your bum leg! Grumpy and people pleaser are a bad combo.

I have a face that makes strangers want to tell me their life story. I don't want to hear everyone's life story. Riding the bus in high school, I learned that even the most lukewarm, half shrug is more than enough encouragement.

Why is the city of Portland able to find $120 million for the Moda Center but can't find $50 million for Portland public schools?

I think he may have also been depressed. I can't remember exactly, but a lot of presidents end up very depressed. It's a horrible job, I don't know why anyone would want it. Plus, in the Olden Times, several presidents lost children during their presidency. Sometimes because of the White House.

Coolidge is also a fascinating guy! It's my understanding that he was really into micromanaging agency budgets, marking line items with a pencil. He was notoriously taciturn and didn't seem to like people at all. Word that he went into public service!

I didn't know why I've always found the forgotten presidents so interesting (maybe it's the "look ye mighty and despair" of it all) but Arthur is my favorite.

Today is Chester A. Arthur's birthday. I think he's one of our most interesting forgotten presidents. From his early law career at an openly abolitionist law firm to his career in machine politics, benefitting from the spoils system, to his unlikely presidency... He's an interesting guy!

Dr. Oz is on my flight right now. He is sitting in the very first seat, front row. I saw him get on the plane. So when I stepped off the jetway onto the plane I approached him and put my hand out. What the man in charge of healthcare for the people on the very margins of society said…was revealing

It's so unfair that I have to sleep and eat and do chores and run errands and work. All of that is wasted time when I could be painting or crocheting or knitting or sewing or reading or cross stitching or writing letters. I was clearly meant to be an independently wealthy regency lady.

I don't know what the police bureau was hoping to accomplish by bringing up Mitch Green's tweets from 2020-21. All it's done is remind me about how lawless their behavior felt at that time and how many Portlanders were poisoned by CS gas in their own homes.

Here me out: give every high school three elderly dogs that just hang out all day. They can wander around the administrative areas, hang out in the cafeteria, fall asleep under the history teacher's desk... And they get picked up every evening by their family or foster family.

Dutifully, they did.

If downtown #pdx is so dead, what's with all the traffic? Why are the no parking spots? It's almost like downtown is pretty great and people like doing stuff on the weekend!
