Obviously we want more gay hockey shows, but also, there is a huge difference in the quality of the writing between some of the books providing the source material. The one we all love - those books are (mostly) very good! The one in the news today? I've read it. That book is *not good*.

This book is from 2018 but I only heard about it/read it this month and absolutely loved it: THE LAST HOURS by Minette Walters. Set in Dorset during the summer of 1348. And, there is an excellent sequel called THE TURN OF MIDNIGHT that I finished last night!

30 years ago this week I moved to Toronto from a dairy farm near a very small town to attend university. One day I'm living on a farm, the next at Bloor and Avenue having ridden the subway once and the streetcar never. Basically greener than grass. Pretty wild to think about now.

I get annoyed by the sheer scale of the mismatch. 2025 had the lowest number of homicides in Toronto in 40 years (during which our population increased by a third), and 2026 is on pace to be 20% lower than last year. Just an enormous unprecedented drop, and people are trying to drum up fear.
