This is too wholesome

I had the most wonderful flight home from Denver. I met the nicest young man who sat next to me. He offered to put my bag in the overhead compartment and helped me with my tray. He was always polite, saying "yes ma’am" or "no ma’am." Anyone would be proud to have him as a son or grandson—so polite.

People walking by were saying congratulations, great job, or even taking pictures. I turned and asked him, “Who am I sitting next to?” I looked at his Jaguar pants, smiled, and asked, “Are you an athlete?” He smiled and said, “I’m Travis. Yes, I was drafted by the Jags.” I already told my sons I want his jersey.

He’s so humble and down-to-earth—I would have never guessed he was a professional athlete. JACKSONVILLE JAGS, you did good! I will be buying tickets.

Food sensitivity test results were helpful, though didn't show as much improvement as hoped. It's taken awhile to process this news and come up with a new plan. 🥲🙏🏻🫂 CW: IBS Next step: comprehensive stool test, especially since I've been dealing with bad diarrhea almost daily for over a year. 😢🫂🙏🏻

When lockdowns started, people said: “this is what your life is like all the time? I had no idea!” They seemed to understand how hard it is to be disabled & housebound. I found support & empathy. Then they got bored. Wanted their “normal” back. Support vanished & disabled people were left behind.

When you are chronically ill, my advice is to maintain as many relationships as you can, even if in a limited way. However, do prioritize relationships that are safe, kind, accepting, and characterized by mutual effort. 🫂🙏🏻🥲💕 #spoonies #community

I've ordered some like new compression socks from Mercari to help replace my current ones (which are stretched out after over 6 months of regular use). Got some Wellow ones (super comfortable for around the house, though a bit lower on the compression side). Also, going to try Bombas 20-30 mm! :D

My sweet husband drove me to my psych appointment! I rested in the car's back seat. My appointment went well! It actually felt connecting & encouraging. 🙂 I had on my 3M Aura. And it looked like there were air purifiers in all/most rooms in the building! 😃 Tired now. 😴 #MECFS #cPTSD

The biggest advice I've gotten [re: the next 4 yrs] from elders and my own experiences is: we must not let them take our joy. Yes, we resist injustice & lament our circumstances, but to do that without intentional time for joy is to give in to the oppressors, who want us weakened & dysregulated.

Another thing I made this year: Real and implied birds.

Fun fact: I grew up without air conditioning for most of ages 5 to 18. I lived in the tropics, in the Philippines. In the later years, we had window air conditioners in the bedrooms, and we would turn them on for ~3 hours in the evening. #philippines
