I didn't realize this at the time but was the stadium parking garage actually closed to the general public during World Cup games? So, do we really need that parking garage, or is it just a choice about how we want people to travel to stadium events?

McDonald's is now reportedly pressuring franchisees to use AI to price food. Its CEO raked in $20.6M last year, over 1,000x the median McDonald's worker pay of $19,020. And they remain one of the largest employers of Medicaid and SNAP recipients. I'm not lovin' it.

Yup, for example cars are an environmental and public health disaster but to have a productive discussion about how we change that you have to understand the benefits (real and perceived) that people get from cars

AI is basically a marketing term that gets applied to whatever the shiny new algorithm is. There was a time when a big table of if…then statements got called AI.

it's just a self-evidently stupid idea that stay-at-home parents are enough of a voting bloc for a promise of universal child care to somehow earn their ire and the reason the internet broke society is people who write things like this know they are morons but don't like having to be told that

It’s been darkly amusing watching people deal with the fact that Trump actually had not imposed a permanent change to our culture and politics that would allow them to be their worst selves without friction. Some are doubling down, hence the neighborhood bar fascination, and others are pivoting hard

No, it's not, because he absolutely did constrain Israel. The question is whether he did it more or less than another president would have under the same circumstances, which is unknowable. The closest we've come is to see that Trump has actually been *more* permissive of Israel.

I have designed a poster comprising the "eki stamps" for every station in the Tokyo subway network. Includes the stamps in alphabetical order, every line with stations in romaji and Japanese script and a diagram of the network. It's HUGE and FREE and can be downloaded in stage7.net/dls/
A poster with ink stamps from every of the 200+ stations in the Tokyo subway system, with colourful samples, a list of every line with their stations and codes and a diagram of the network. The poster looks like being made on old paper.

lol the vibe shift in AI hype feels like a ploy by U.S. tech bros to permanently keep out competitors. They are cosplaying concern so they can "regulate" their competitors out of existence. It's not about safety. It's about money.
