I'm betting money on the Nicky Hager book being about shady dealings in Malta. Not everything has to be NZ election related.

A cutaway view of a stone tower containing an elaborate water-powered medieval geared machine. Rising out of the machine is a rainbow-tinted, pixelated God with the robes, beard and all. To one side of this scene is a cluster of tiny people in Jesus-era robes, falling about themselves in religious ecstasy all over a stone staircase, atop of which stands a robed priest with his hands upraised. The background is a set of shining golden rays, emanating from pixel-God.

The everyday Kiwi on the street needs to understand that most of the money any beneficiary receives goes immediately to private landlords - the beneficiary is just the middleman, and that is the problem that really needs to be solved, IMO.

The UK ‘Labour’ Party’s descent into a puppet of the Israeli state is both shameful and terrifying. 14 years in jail for a journalist who reports information received from a group that the Home Secretary can designate as terrorist without having MPs vote on it. Same for aid agency workers.

Okay so my partner's submission said "my partner is trans" and got rejected by the select committee because "it considers that your submission shares personal, private, or medical information about a third party.” Turns out they're constrained by law in this, and she can amend the submission... 1/2

If you want to avoid these AI generations of your Instagram posts without switching your account to private, you’ll have to dig into the app’s settings. Open the Instagram app, tap your profile, and then tap the three lines in the top-right corner of the screen. Then, scroll down to the Sharing and reuse tab. Here is where you should see a section labeled Allow people to use your content on Instagram and with AI features on Meta, with a toggle for Posts and one for Reels.

One of my favourite Jafar Panahi films is Offside, filmed live & under false-script-pretenses at the Iran-Bahrain 2006 World Cup qualifier. The joy and unity documented in that final scene makes me think that fucking with the Iranian football team will unite Iranians in a way the regime could never.

One of the things this issue has exposed is how many NZers believe in collective punishment. Someone harrassed them on the street once and now they want other people detained for sleeping.
