In that interview clip he also agrees with Republican framing on welfare restrictions and immigration - when a Democrat goes soft on trans rights, it's an indicator they're going to be giving up on other stuff as well. Transphobia isn't a quirk of otherwise decent people, it's a sign of deeper rot.

Amnesty International put out a major report documenting the influence of UK based anti trans gender critical organizations and their funding. Within hours, GC groups threatened defamation lawsuits and Amnesty was forced to pull it down. Proving the point they're anti rights. Anyways, here it is.

I exist in the Looney Tunes universe (I was part of the crew on one of Chuck Jones's later shorts, Another Froggy Evening, and we were all drawn into a crowd scene). I also exist in the Teen Titans animated universe as a bacon merchant, & I drew myself into The Iron Giant as a soldier.

It's also significant that she doesn't mention transgender people specifically, it's "members of the LGBT community". I know that sounds pedantic but it's a deliberate dodge that centrists do all the time to sound inclusive without saying anything specific.

Back in the 90's when we still animated on paper, I remember working on a feature, getting some freelance work from an animator in the UK & flipping through it & the cigarette smell just WAFTED off it like the smoker was in the room blowing it in my face. Those pages crossed an ocean & still stunk.

I don't think Disney's current stance is unmovable. There are queer artists in the company fighting for every scrap of representation, and if Disney decides there's more money in providing it than cutting it, they will.

I'm not arguing that Disney is ever going to make a choice to put out trans-positive content if there's no upside to it for them financially, I'm saying that what they put out into the world defines what a lot of people see as normal. If they can make a buck off of telling trans stories, they will.
