THREAD. The New York Times just published a propaganda piece that portends dangerous trends in the coming months. Corporate media wants to help a group of sociopathic monied interests (called "moderates" here) to boost fascism by deceiving people about their true motives.
NYT headline about moderate democrats planning war on the left.

It's pretty telling that the same people crowing endlessly about how we need more small-c conservative art, are also upset about a big-budget adaptation of Homer's "Odyssey" because of woke. It really gives away the contradictions in the project.

The whataboutism on animal agriculture should be a "yes, and" rather than a deflection. I'm a vegetarian for a reason, and I do my best to navigate the ethical minefield of global capitalism. I believe we should reduce meat consumption on environmental grounds while also reducing data center bloat.

A key point in Fahrenheit 451 is that books were banned because they made people depressed and uncomfortable. The novel's protagonist, Montag, is taken into custody after he reads a poem that makes a woman cry because she realizes the emptiness of her life.

a tangential reason why abolishing ICE is good politics is that it requires the capacity to exile these people from any left of center politics; similarly, the failure to exercise their influence from any future majority more or less guarantees the failure of any reconstruction 👍
