A screenshot of the article linked in post, it contains text reading: What is otitis media and what symptoms and complications can it cause?

“The term ‘otitis media’ refers to a group of inflammatory conditions affecting the middle ear. Common symptoms include ear pain, hearing loss, and in severe cases, fluid accumulation behind the eardrum. In children, untreated or recurrent otitis media can lead to chronic ear disease and developmental delays in speech and language. In rare cases, hearing loss can become permanent. These complications can significantly impact a child’s quality of life, education, and overall development.”

Indigenous student engagement, from initial learnings to implementation and continuing the journey. Summary of approach being establishing at the University of Newcastle to address the lack of diversity and equity in biomedical science and pharmacy research for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This approach involves (1) initial learnings that staff are required to undertake such as cultural capability training to bring everyone up to speed on the historical context. (2) The pre-university engagement through the Wollutuka Institute and the Indigenous Student Engagement Committee to connect with our mob, build relationships early and remove barriers to entry into University. (3) Initiatives for current staff and students for cultural and academic support and retention. (4) The next steps required to continue the journey.
