A blonde white woman kneels beside a stream doing laundry. Her hair is wrapped in a blue cloth, and she wears a brown apron over a simple white dress. A basket full of white cloth sits next to her. The forest around her is alive with bright autumnal colours. An oak sapling grows across the stream from the woman.

After a year’s intensive research featuring 1530s Augmentations Books, endless notes, maps, and index cards, I am embarking on a huge stitched work listing the names of the men and women who were pensioned after the dissolution of the monasteries. The lives of these people were turned upside down.
A large piece of cream calico fabric. A strip of fabric is stitched on, reading The monastery oh Edyngton, Wiltshire. The name of the Rector is shown - Paul Busshe. Other names are inked on fabric and clipped together. An index card with details of the monastery is shown.

Demon balls! I'm so excited to be involved in a project organised by @hellomizk.bsky.social, pairing medievalists with artists to produce brand new #comics. I'm working with the amazing Dan Berry, on the story of #Guthlac. Dan just sent me this - inspired by a demon in the #medieval Guthlac Roll 1/2
Sketch of a demon by Dan Berry.
The demon is green with horns, forked tail, and very prominent testicles!! Inspired by a demon in the 13th-century Guthlac Roll.
A swallow sits on the demon's shoulder, giving disdainful side-eye.Roundel from the 13th-century Guthlac Roll showing the demons being scourged - the one at the front (in a headlock) is the inspiration for our ballsy devil
