I don't find the Schmitt Senate fiasco remotely funny. It's just McCarthyism but more incompetent. It's appalling, & a constitutional order that can't end this level of unserious lying & extremist nonsense isn't worth saving. Neuroscientist here. I have studied the brain for 40 years. I make serious use of machine learning and AI in my research. Sam Altman is full of shit. These machines are not conscious, any more than a movie of a train coming out of the screen is a train. AI does remarkable things but isn’t real.
