I think one of the fundamental problems we have is that everyone wants to rewind to 2019 and pretend that none of the past five years ever happened. The pandemic was a chance to look at our overstretched and under resourced healthcare system looked like under stress and maybe, I dunno, fix things?

Not going to argue against this. Certainly can't point the finger at one specific disinfo campaign & say, "this had an impact." But the long theory of disinformation is that it erodes the ability to know/trust information, which can lead to apathy towards democracy and a preference for autocracy.
