Light blue curtains in the nursery? Classically, probably a boys room. Dark blue curtains in the detectives office? The detective is cold and private but not totally without humanity. Or that’s just my interpretation of those two maybe the author thought the light blue was sad and dark was grounding

This is why I’ve always had an issue with the “The curtains are just blue” argument. Why are they blue? Is blue the authors default color? If so, what does that say about the authors worldview? What shade of blue is it? Which room of the house is it in? All of this matters and changes the story.

That’s actually a really common thing in non-English speaking countries. The first and second editions of DnD describe kobolds as do like, and those were the only DnD versions available in those countries for a while. Also the 1e art looks like this, it wasn’t until 4e that they became more dragoney
