SvelteKit 3 is out! Better environment variable handling, better error messages, and sensible breaking changes with an easy upgrade thanks to our migration script which handles many things automatically and gives you(r agent) a nice Todo list for the rest.

If you maintain a @nodejs.org application that hasn't been updated for a couple of years, consider looking into replacing some userland dependencies with built-ins that are now available flaviocopes.com/node-builtins/

oh, no... vite based, but integrated into our own build system that spits out importmaps (sourced from vite's manifest). if that's missing, every asset is missing. but to be clear, vite was not even part of the problem.

We just solved the gnarliest only-in-production bug since I joined Geizhals. 3+ senior engineers, 2 days. Every deployment would leave the site without CSS/JS assets! (Luckily we built an emergency tool for exactly this case in the past. Yesterday was the first time we needed this tool) Whew 😅🥵

I still need Sass for breakpoint variables, since we can't use custom properties in media queries (or can we now?) Admittedly, I use media queries not as much any more. (e.g. dynamic grids or container queries instead)

This is where modern #CSS really shines: anchor positioning, animating and dynamic colors with `oklch` + `color-mix`. All positioning and coloring is based on a single custom property. I'm having sooo much fun with this 😍🤩

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).
A crescent Moon seen during the day, arcing from upper left to lower right of the frame. At lower centre is the full disk of Jupiter; the small dots to its upper left and lower right and Io and Ganymede, respectively.
