The reason generative AI is so popular with wannabe creatives is best illustrated by something every pro writer has encountered: getting pitched an idea by someone saying "You write it and we'll split the profits!" because they think the idea is what has value, not the writing. Remembering when my little brother and teenage me once built a ridiculous gif-heavy Boonie fan website called "Temple of Boon," where, for some reason, I crudely photoshopped his head onto all of the Spice Girls. It became weirdly popular and Boonie became aware of it. I don't think he was a fan.
