So many beloved screenplays break "rules" like this. "Show, don't tell" should be a tool, not a cage. IMO go ahead and say your character "seems hesitant." I mean Cartman is supposed to be a terrible person, like it’s fundamental to the character. That’s the kind of thing a terrible person would say. So I don’t think the creators, who are themselves part Jewish, are endorsing his bullshit by any stretch.
