The reality of building an auto dependent society where roads are paid for via gas taxes is coming to roost. I prefer a milage-based tax, but $130/year doesn’t seem terrible…

The UK has shed coal from the grid and is quickly removing fossil gas too. Nearly 90% of the country’s power is coming from renewables or nuclear.

The trend is definitely up, but the policy change means that December 'stole' sales from 2026. It's a blip in a trend, which is currently probably sitting between 30% and 40%. robbieandrew.github.io/china/ 2/4

Have been waiting for this moment for far too long. It’s unfortunate (a war is the cause for this) and exciting to watch BEVs move from fringe to mainstream in Europe!

Seems like the latest oil spike of the last 6-8 weeks is the first time we’re actually seeing consumers pull the EV demand lever in a meaningful way.

In France, legislation came into effect recently for all car parks that have over 80 spaces to be covered with solar panels. Estimated to add around 11GW of renewable energy capacity to the national grid. Why not do likewise in Scotland? Braehead, Silverburn, Glasgow Fort etc.

Scale of rentals you can build in NYC vs. scale of condos you can build. Mandatory Inclusionary Housing is leading to a city of tiny little shoebox rentals with 10-ft.-wide living rooms that you’ll have no chance of affording with kids or, god forbid, in retirement.

This is the reality across dozens of countries (and soon the entire world) - the up front cost of buying an EV is lower than ICE. It’s not environmentalism it’s economics.

The cool thing about today (vs. the 70s) is that we have cheap and easy solutions to counteract oil shocks. Higher gas prices might save the U.S. EV industry while we wait for more affordable, mass-market vehicles to launch later this decade.
