The cover of DC Comics: The New 52 omnibus, not stylized as was traditional on the covers of the actual comics of the era as THE NEW 52! with an exclamation point. Maybe omnibi are resistant to hyperbolic punctuation.

Okay. So here's what I know - I lost my day job. - I hated my day job. - I liked having a lot of money and health insurance. - But a lot of money never made me happier, I just owned more stuff. - I do still need health insurance. - I'm really fucking good at lettering comic books.

Every now and then, I think about the fact that the filmmakers behind (the not great) Ocean's 8 basically asked Daniel Pemberton to just do David Holmes cosplay for the soundtrack, and he responded as if he'd just been looking for permission the entire time. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtXt...

So yeah, we already did ”why don’t the Judges from Judge Dredd buy off crime“ and answered it “because they don’t want to” so that’s one up on Batman.

Jim Henson would have been 90 (yup, you read that right: NINETY) years old today. You can celebrate his life by celebrating creativity, diversity, peace, imagination, and silliness.

Alas, it's true; Popverse's editorial team has been laid off and departs at the end of the week. I'm really proud of a lot of what we managed to do across the last 4+ years, and grateful for all the opportunities it offered. Working with Chris, Ashley, Grant, Jules, Trent (and more!) was an honor.

"Noohu was hired to work on Criminal, based on the interlocking world of crime stories from comic book powerhouse Brubaker, in February 2023 by Big Indie (A Complete Unknown, Manchester by the Sea, Still Alice, Fallout, Mr. and Mrs. Smith). Soon after that, the lawsuit says, Brubaker started to subject Noohu to “repeated and pervasive” sexual harassment by making comments about running his hands through Noohu’s hair, joking about rape and rubbing Noohu’s back.

"Separately, Brubaker directed “demeaning stereotypes” about curry, comments invoking the “Tiger Mom” trope, references to Never Have I Ever and comments about Noohu’s presumed facility with math at the production assistant, a Sri Lankan American filmmaker, according to the complaint. Noohu was also frequently asked whether he supports Hamas, the lawsuit says."

Reminder that when some say Portland has "the highest taxes in the country," they often fail to mention it's only for individuals over $125k/year. And when they say it's higher than California and New York (oh my!), it's about a 3% difference and without those states' 8% sales tax.
