In my latest newsletter post, I consider whether Ottawa is actually 200 years old this weekend—and how much that should get in the way of a party.
threespeed.substack.com
Is Ottawa really 200 years old? Or is it 172? What about 25?
Like any birthday, Ottawa 200 lets us reflect on age—but how many candles should go on the cake?

Four incredible tracks, maybe not at a Sir Duke or I Wish level but easily be among the next tier of Stevie songs. New and fresh ideas from a musical genius - the sounds, the groove the voice. Is this what it felt like to listen to the album for the first time 50 years ago? Instant classics.

This is a long way of saying that I would absolutely have read a 2,000 word piece on Jackie Urbaez and the Ottawa Titans this week — 29th round pick of the Brewers from Miami becomes beloved local favourite playing five years of independent baseball in Ottawa and then leads team to championship.

Toronto’s bike share saw 7.8 million rides in 2025, from 373,000 unique riders. Of those, 232,000 were new users during the year. And they are on track to smash through those numbers in 2026. 🚲

On of the development principles is “lead with landscape”. There are no homes here yet, but they’ve established reclaimed natural areas and a large public park. Homes, businesses, transit, amenities will be built over the next couple of decades.
