Plants perceive pathogenic threats through receptors localized at the plasma membrane and inside cells to initiate pattern-triggered immunity (PTI) and effector-triggered immunity (ETI), respectively....

Host-induced fungal CAZymes act as disease determinants and drive multihost compatibility.

Toll/interleukin-1/resistance (TIR) domain NADase enzymes signal in plant immunity by producing ribosylated nucleotide second messengers which activate EDS1 dimer-helper NLR pathways to restrict patho...

Plants and animals respond to pathogen attack by mounting innate immune responses that require intracellular nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat (NLR) proteins. These immune receptors detect pathog...

Fungal effectors may have evolved from ancient antimicrobials, shaping plant microbiota and immunity during infection.

Evolutionary histories of effector proteins secreted by fungal pathogens to mediate plant colonization remain largely elusive. While most functionally characterized effectors modulate plant immunity, ...

Zymoseptoria tritici, the causal agent of the foliar disease Septoria tritici blotch (STB), is a major wheat pathogen in Europe. Although several wheat resistance (R) genes have been identified, Z. tr...
