Electric vehicles with built-in gas generators are the car industry’s new hope for drivers wary of going electric. But “these new hybrids are the latest sign that the electric revolution has not exactly gone according to plan,” Andrew Moseman reports. theatln.tc/dMkVXHq0

Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

An extraordinary story about how scientists in the US are afraid to speak up as the entire science research ecosystem is demolished at the hands of the Republican administration. Without our voices, how will people understand the scope and generational consequences of the ongoing destruction?

Easy to lose this in the noise of the day, but the prime minister of Canada just said the US president, leader of the global hegemon, wants to soften us up economically so he can annex us. That is one of the most remarkable statements, and realities, in our history.

Year after year after year America underfunds K-12 education relative to other Western nations and is a bottom dweller on international test scores relative to other G7 nations. Huh. Probably why no one saw this coming, & probably why it happened. The average American is "uninformed" for a reason.

Frankly I'd be okay if he went to Mars too. At least given the current research. Plus that 3-1/2 to 22 minute delay in having to hear him would be nice too. No amount of money can overcome THAT. Also a bonus that he'd probably not have any more kids.

There IS academic literature on this. I wonder if CBC producers/etc actually contacted any academics to ask about this. I really, really doubt it, because journalists actually learn in journalism school that they can be an expert on anything with 15 minutes of reading (I wish I was joking).

This is what it looks like when you just don't get it. The damage of normalizing has already been done. Later, when CBC apologizes for this and "defund the CBC" campaigners use this as ammunition, remember that they could have cancelled it in the face of the uproar. Vimy, not Vichy 🇨🇦.

Yup, I agree. Over the last decade I've gone from listening to CBC 40h a week to maybe 5 or 6 h/wk. I've stopped listening to The House because it became garbage, and now this. The implicit bias in what they now cover and *how* they cover it astounds me. I've given up on CBC basically.

Sure, but when you screw up, as the *majority* of small investors do (there IS research on this) then the STATE...MY tax dollars...then has to support you through extended OAS, through greater costs to the medical system (because you'll look after yourself more poorly) etc etc. You become a BURDEN.
