In addition for every other valid reason not to get ChatGPT to do your journal peer reviews for you I heard today the argument that once you load an article into the programme it will become part of the training data set and you are thereby complicit in violating the author’s copyright.

I’m reading a book of letters of genteel English Catholics from the c18th which covers several decades, and it’s unbelievably dull until 1792, when suddenly it turns into the Scarlet Pimpernel - all daring escapes from Sans Culottes and rescuing nuns and priest from France

I always do this and follow up the names to, for example, local newspapers. There are often letters or other info that give more detailed insight than a war diary could.

Browsing the CWGC database today by regiment and date of death it suddenly hit me that I could use it to fill in the names of those frustratingly unnamed OR casualties in war diary entries Not necessarily that precisely but a start /1 #Remembrance #familyhistory
