Today’s Daily Record has a feature about my research on the closure of Cardowan colliery in Lanarkshire. It was pivotal in the build up to the 1984-85 miners’ strike and breaking union power. For more on Cardowan, read my new book, An Injury to All: The Unmaking of the British Working Class.

Purple background, white text, which says Joanna is both the haunted and the haunting, the ghost of her own past present and future, and like Scrooge at times she haunts others: Scrooge haunts the Fezziwig brothers' party, Joanna haunts the celebrations and occupations of the people on Whileaway.
